5 Days training on AI at the Edge

Islamabad June 28th 2021 – AI Lounge, in collaboration with NUST and University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, organized a 5-day onsite workshop from 28th June to 2nd July at NUST, Islamabad.
Workshop main focus revolved around putting AI models to use on FPGA boards. This workshop was planned keeping in mind that ML on chip or AI at the edge is an emerging field with great demand in the tech industry and this event promised to develop this skill in all the enthusiastic learners.
It started off with an introduction to Machine Learning and Deep Learning, later transitioning to an overview of ML/AI at the edge, talks on Vivado HLS basics and Brevitas implementation by professors, junior trainers who have been affiliated with some of the best universities. It also included hands-on experience for participants on the subject over a period of 5 days.
All in all, it was a remarkable experience for the team as well as the participants.

Webinar on AI in Neuroscience and Healthcare

Islamabad December 11, 2020 – Ai-Lounge organised a webinar on “AI in Neuroscience and Healthcare” in collaboration with SEECS, NUST and National Center of Artificial Intelligence (NCAI). The event brought to the fore the advancement of artificial intelligence systems, that can help drive neuroscience forward and unlock the secrets of the brain. A distinctive factor was the pursuit of discovering ways to allow neuroscientists and researchers to build better models to simulate the human brain.

The keynote addresses were delivered by four eminent personalities – Prof. Dr. Didier Stricker, Head of the Research Dept. Augmented Vision, DFKI (German Research Center for AI), his excellency Prof. Dr. Faisal Shafait, Director of Deep Learning Lab at National Center of AI, along with Dr. Awais Kamboh, Associate Professor, College of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Jeddah, Saudia Arabia, and Dr. Saima Shafait, Department of Neurology, Pak-Emirates Military Hospital.

The event was also attended by Prof. Dr. Marcus Liwicki, Professor & Head of Subject, Chaired Professor Luleå University of Technology & Dr. Foteini Liwicki, Senior Lecturer Luleå University of Technology who expressed thier views on how Deep neural networks, that have emerged as the workhorses of state of the art AI applications, have their roots in neuroscience and are constructed using models inspired by the brain.

Final Remarks from Prof. Dr. Faisal Shafait were that AI models have now matured to a level that they are being explored by neuroscience and healthcare researchers as tools that can be employed to improve the quality of services being provided by the global healthcare system.

Prof. Dr. Faisal Shafait featured in Standford List of Top 2% Scientists

According to a database published by  PLOS Biology, Prof. Dr. Faisal Shafait (our Advisory Board Member) is featured amongst the top 2% researchers worldwide by Citation Impact for the calendar year 2019. The research was published by a consortium of authors from Stanford University USA, SciTech Strategies USA, and Elsevier, The Netherlands, whereby they recently published updates to their lists of top 100,000 researchers based on standardised citation indicators using the Scopus (Elsevier) database. The researchers are ranked according to a composite index created by the authors factoring in several bibliometrics including citations, hirsch-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, etc.

M. Uzair Khattak is among the first ones to become a NVIDIA Certified Jetson AI Specialist

We are pleased to announce that our junior trainer M. Uzair Khattak is among the first batch of AI specialists to receive certification from NVIDIA. He is also among the first one’s who have this certification in Pakistan. Moreover he’s also featured on the NVIDIA official blog. See NVIDIA’s blog here, titled:
